Sage Therapy South
Wisdom and Care Through Complicated Season
Anxiety and depression are rarely individual issues; for many, they stem from long-standing systemic burdens and deep-rooted cultural or familial obligations. You might find yourself locked in the role of the hyper-vigilant protector, the constant fixer, or the "strong one" who holds everything together while feeling completely isolated inside.
I believe there is a profound difference between carrying a healthy sense of purpose and carrying false responsibility.
If you are constantly managing the unspoken expectations, guilt, or stress passed down through generations or absorbed on the job, you may be holding onto baggage that simply isn’t yours. You spend so much time showing up for everyone else—it is time to have a space that shows up for you.

How We Work
Defining the Architecture
We go beneath the surface to map out invisible rules, rigid hierarchies, and generational boundaries that have kept you or your relationship feeling trapped.
Understanding Patterns
We identify the exact moments where ancestral trauma is masquerading as your personal obligation. We safely exhume your true desires from beneath the noise of conditioning.
Practical, Liberating Tools
Our work goes beyond learning therapy-ese and theories. Once you feel empowered to voice what you truly want, we construct the concrete framework to support it. I equip you with the exact scripts, behavioral strategies, and boundary tools required to move through the world with poise, clarity, and safety.
Healing isn't a one-size-fits-all formula. Therapy is an active, evolving process. We constantly check in on what's serving you and what isn't re-evaluating our plan as we go, or helping you pivot to new resources if your needs change. My approach is active and collaborative. Together, we look at the whole picture of your life through the lens of the systems your life is built upon.
The Relief of a Balanced Life
For Individuals
Drop the heavy weight of perfectionism and step into a life designed by your own choices.
For Couples:
Release unhealed trauma and unforgiveness. Learn to practice friendship, trust and authenticity again. Truly see, hear, and hold each other in real time!
Appropriate boundaries aren’t an act of war; they are structures that keep us physically, emotionally and mentally safe.
When we return emotional debts to the past where they belong, your nervous system can finally settle.
About Janel

I help clients work through the effects of family dysfunction, relationship stress, and nervous system overwhelm.

Therapy is a collaborative, dynamic process, not a linear formula or a guaranteed quick fix. We continuously evaluate your progress together. If a specific approach or tool isn't bringing you relief, we adjust our strategy, or collaborate on a new plan. And if we discover that your needs require a different type of care, I will happily connect you with trusted colleagues or specialists to ensure you get the support you deserve.
-
This is a very real fear, especially when culture equals identity, housing, and family loyalty. My approach isn't about destroying relationships or teaching cold detachment. We focus on boundary practices that honor your roots while protecting your peace, using real talk that feels authentic to your voice and values.
-
Both. Both. We examine how your past shaped your present, but every session is actionable. You will walk away with concrete tools, fresh perspectives, and exact scripts for hard conversations if you want them.

No. In couples work, the relationship is my client. I refer clients out for separate individual therapy as needed. Any brief individual check-ins with me are strictly to support the health of the relationship and the safety of all parties.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized, evidence-based trauma therapy. Instead of just talking through painful memories, EMDR uses gentle bilateral stimulation to help your brain reprocess past trauma and stress—so those old memories lose their emotional charge and stop dictating your present life.
